About
Oklahoma State Horseshoeing School — Class Highpoint Shoeing, 2023
Jayce Reum
HOT SHOD Farrier Service runs out of Grande Prairie, Alberta — covering the City, the County, and out across Peace Country.
The training comes from Oklahoma State Horseshoeing School in Ardmore, Oklahoma — one of the longest-running farrier programs in North America. I graduated in June 2023 with full Honors, Rights, and Privileges, and was awarded the school's Overall Class Highpoint for Shoeing — top of the class.
The training matters because it covers both sides of the job: shoeing and the hoof underneath it. Anatomy, balance, corrective work, forge skills, and a full grounding in hot and cold methods — not just nailing on keg shoes.
The work is straightforward: show up on time, do the trim and the shoes right, talk through anything the horse needs, leave the place cleaner than I found it. Repeat in six to eight weeks.
If you're looking for a farrier who'll commit to a regular cycle and treat your horse like it matters — that's the job.
